On Monday, January 6, Priscilla and Stu Smith drove to Williamette University in Salem to attend the Oath of Office Ceremony for Secretary of State Tobias Read. They were impressed by the dignitaries in attendance as well as the ceremony itself. Tobias’ children, niece and nephew lead the flag salute, there was a blessing by Grande Ronde Tribal Secretary Jon George and special music. After Judge Garrett made the office official, Read delivered his remarks. Numerous members of the Oregon Legislature were in attendance in addition to Gov. Kotek and First Lady Kotek-Wilson.
