Crook County Dems May 2025 Meeting

A Discussion About Homelessness in Crook County

The Central Oregon homeless population has soared in recent years as the cost of living in our area continues to grow exponentially.

The Annual Point in Time (PIT) Count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. This year’s count occurred on January 27, when dozens of volunteers physically surveyed people experiencing homelessness in our region.

Crook County Democratic Central Committee Secretary Susan Caron was one of those volunteers. At our May meeting, she’ll share her experience and observations. She’ll be joined by special guest Mike Wilson, former interim executive director for Redemption House — a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides transitional housing, food, and other resources for those in need — to discuss the current state of homelessness and trends over time.

Join us at the Bowman Museum, 246 N. Main St., Prineville, at 6pm.
