We had a fantastic booth at this year’s fair!
Many thanks to Paula Minetti-Maboll for coordinating our participation in the event. She ensured that every aspect ran smoothly, allowing us to focus on what mattered most — connecting with the community.
We were grateful that so many fairgoers attended despite the heat and hazardous wildfire smoke that blanketed Prineville for the first two days. It was a pleasure to connect with the diverse crowd, including both longtime Democrats and enthusiastic newcomers to Crook County. We engaged with many attendees, helping them register to vote and sparking thoughtful conversations about the current political landscape.
A big thank you to all who made the fair a success in a difficult time!
Gauging visitor perspectives
We held our second annual “Bean Poll” to gather insights on the issues that matter most to attendees. It was inspiring to see so many people who wanted to make their voices heard.
We distributed three dried beans to each participant and asked them to vote for their top concerns among seven key issues. The results were illuminating:
- Reduce the cost of living = 22%
- Protect Social Security/raise the income cap = 18%
- Affordable housing = 17%
- Expand healthcare security = 15%
- Immigration reform/stop ICE = 14%
- Restore federal funding for K-12 = 8%
- Tax Reform = 7%
Here are last year’s results, which featured broader categories:
- Immigration/due process = 21%
- Education = 18%
- Healthcare = 18%
- The economy = 18%
- The environment 13%
- Women’s rights =12%
